Board of Directors
The Merchant's Association is searching for volunteers to
sit on the Board of Directors. There are currently five open positions
on the Board of Directors. If you are interested in being on the Board
of Directors, and being actively involved in the positive changes being
made in Highlandtown, please contact Troy Richardson for meeting information.
The Board of Directors meets once each month for approximately
2 hours. At these meetings, updates from the Executive Committee are heard,
and various issues are discussed and voted on.

Committees
The CRB is an 8 member panel of people representing the Merchants, Community,
City and Southeast Community Development Corporation. The CRB has responsibility
for reviewing all permit requests that are made to the City for occupancy,
renovations, exterior signage and the like. The CRB is chaired and operated
by the Highlandtown Merchant's Association.
The CRB publishes and Annual Report in the form of a running status report

Text being developed
The Nominating Committee shall have the responsibility of selecting a
slate of Board of Directors to be elected at the Annual General Membership
Meeting. The Chairman of the Committee is responsible for presenting the
slate and conducting the election. The Committee shall send a notice to
membership at least fifteen (15) days prior to the date of the meeting
of its nominees for the ensuing year. The Chairman shall also accept nominations
submitted by any member at the meeting and place this name for vote along
with those which the Committee has nominated.To join the committee, please

The Membership Committee is responsible for obtaining new members in all
categories and for reactivating members that have left the Association.
The Committee shall set annual goals and projections. Members of the Committee
are responsible for reporting back to the Board of Directors and Membership
on their progress at regular intervals. To join the committee, please

The Promotion and Advertising Committee is responsible for the development
of promotion, advertising and sales plans. The Committee shall develop
a budget covering each separate event and an accumulated yearly budget.
This Committee is responsible for negotiating the Christmas decorating
program, analyzing the contract and submitting the contract to the Board
of Directors for approval. All programs benefiting and / or used by a
specific area shall be supported financially by that specific area. Members
shall have preference for advertising and non-members shall pay a premium

The Retail Business District Committee is limited to 7 members, and shall
prepare and present an annual budget for approval by the Board of Directors
and members of the Association, and have responsibility for administering
and monitoring budget expenditures. An annual report on the budget administration
and application shall be delivered by the Committee. Other duties include:
develop an annual organizational program for approval by the Board of
Directors and Members and implement the same through the course of the
year; assist in the assessment and collection of Membership Fees; assist
the City of Baltimore in the administration of the Retail Business District
program; hire, discharge, set compensation, prepare job description and
personnel policies for any administrative staff required; recommend policy
and make decisions from time to time as may be necessary to ensure the
smooth and efficient operation of the Retail Business District program.
